The Latest

Alright, so this is what's up.

Today was day 2 at The Sentinal Primary school in Hout Bay. Day 1 was cool, I got to take groups of kids, about 4 or 5 at a time, and help them with their work books or read a story with them. These were grade 3 kids, pretty well behaved, excited to get out of the classroom and generally pretty decent readers.

Today, I was thrown in with a teacher from England as we acted as supply teachers in a class of about 45 10 year olds. It's so hot here today everyone is irritable so take the fact that we can't control these kids anyway, throw in making a collage, which means flipping through magazines, borrowing paste, scissors and rubbers (glue, scissors and erasures) and you get about 6 fights. 2 serious ones, one almost involving scissors - luckily I can still overpower a seriously enraged 10 year old boy. Barely though.

So the day was alright. I was glad when 12:00 rolled around and I had to head off to pick up Dominic from school. Later in the afternoon, I drove Veronica and two other house keepers she knows into town on my way to Ons Plek. I arrived late, quite late to be honest, only to be told that the person I tutor had run away. I'm to call on Monday to see if she and the other two who went with her have returned or not.

Desperate for something cold, I went to Mr. Pickwick's and got myself a milk shake. Got one for my friend, as well, and went by his office for a chat and some air con.

Now I'm back home, sweating it out, enjoying the temporary quiet of the house.

Just got word that I've won tickets to see Freshlyground tonight. Not sure if the ticket will actually come through and generally one needs company to head out at night so we shall see what I do about this situation.

At this point, I'm just wishing I lived under the sea.
