UCT

Today I headed to a few of my old hang outs. Cavendish shopping mall and the University of Cape Town. The mall was a decent place to cruise through. Saw some interesting things, got the phone card I was looking for and put a dent in my Euros. Then I headed up to campus for lunch. There are so many great places to eat there but I had to get my toasted cheese and tomato sandwich, now available on whole wheat! Accompanied by an orange Fanta at last, I sat and watched student life go by. UCT is quite different from any other place in Cape Town I would say. Can't quite explain it but it is. Had a latte at another spot that used to sell mostly sandwiches and listened in on conversations around me, including an amusing one which involved a girl clarifying what exactly she had given up for Lent. Her friends claimed she'd given up the Jammie shuttle (that gets you from lower campus to upper campus) entirely, she said no, she just had to walk up or down once. Still not clear if that was once a day or once during Lent. I'll try to post a pic so you know why walking up to campus everyday can be less than desirable. For now, just remember the varsity is built into the side of a mountain.
